Helena Filipović is a senior leader with over two decades of international experience at the intersection of project management, banking, governance and organisational transformation. She brings a strong cross border perspective shaped by her education and professional journey across Europe, USA and Australia.
Helena holds qualifications in International Management, having undertaken academic studies in Paris and New York. She has worked for international financial institutions including Société Générale, OTP bank, Addiko Bank and NLB. Her experience also includes leading business banking teams at National Australia Bank, providing her with first‑hand insight into mature financial markets, advanced risk frameworks, and customer‑centric banking models.
She has practical experience with EU financial instruments, having coordinated the first European Investment Fund (EIF) Guarantee framework application in Montenegro, enabling new SME lending products and improved access to finance for local businesses.
Beyond the financial sector, Helena has served as Regional Vice‑Consul of the British Embassy for the Western Balkans, an experience that strengthened her understanding of diplomacy, public‑private cooperation, and regional stability.
As Director of Business Support at NLB Podgorica, she improves operational efficiency. Her work focuses on improving productivity and enabling scalable growth through people, processes and technology.
Fluent in Montenegrin and English, with knowledge of Albanian and German, Helena brings a distinctive international approach, a commitment to innovation, and a passion for collaboration to the EU–Western Balkans Business Council’s Advisory Board.
